As Maine’s 132nd Legislature comes to a close, I want to highlight the record of my friend and colleague state Sen. Tim Nangle, D-Windham, who represents Senate District 26 (Casco, Frye Island, Raymond, Windham, and part of Westbrook).
Before entering public office, Nangle spent 27 years as a paramedic with the Portland Fire Department’s Medical Crisis Unit — a career built on responding to Mainers in their most urgent moments of need. That instinct for practical, hands-on service has carried through to his legislative work.
As Senate chair of the Transportation Committee, Nangle has led the effort to pass major infrastructure investments, including a two-year Highway Fund budget that passed with unanimous support and a package of five transportation bills signed into law last session. He’s also pushed for more consumer protection, sponsoring legislation to regulate online vehicle sales so Mainers buying cars from services like Carvana get the same protection as they would at a local dealership.
He also was the lead sponsor of LD 1145, an act to protect residents living in mobile home parks. This legislation can help residents in mobile home parks get a fair shot at buying their park so they can own the land their homes sit in.
He’s championed housing stability for veterans through the Veterans Flex Fund. He authored a law strengthening municipalities’ tools to enforce shoreland zoning, allowing more tools to bring violators into compliance protecting Maine’s lakes, rivers, and streams.
Nangle’s record reflects steady, constituent-focused governance.
I fully support Sen. Nangle’s campaign and believe it is critical that he return to the state Senate to make sure that Maine families have what they need to be successful.
