BREWER— On Saturday, Sept. 12, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Champion the Cure Challenge 2026 continues with a paddle down the Penobscot River. Patients, family, friends and community members are encouraged to dip an oar in the water to show their support for patients with cancer.

“We see family and friends searching for more ways to support patients with cancer,” Ava Collins, MHA, FACHE, president, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, said. “All our Champion the Cure Challenge events give participants different ways to give back, while doing something they love, including the paddle.”

Launching from the Brewer Waterfront, Paddle participants canoe or kayak in their own boat, or larger groups can reserve war canoes that seat 10. The event will end with a pizza party provided by Mason’s Brewing Company.

As an alternative, participants may take the Challenge anywhere or any way they want with a virtual option until Sept. 30.

Registration for Champion the Cure Challenge Paddle is open now. To learn more, donate or register, community members are encouraged to visit ctcchallenge.org.
