A man from the midcoast town of Jefferson was arrested early Thursday morning after police allegedly found drugs and guns in his car during a traffic stop.
A Kennebec County sheriff’s deputy pulled over Allen Glidden, 40, in a Chrysler Pacifica with an expired registration on Bangor Street in Augusta at about 3 a.m., the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The deputy searched the minivan and allegedly found a backpack containing illegal narcotics and guns. Maine State Police arrived to help with the search, which allegedly turned up another pistol under a rear seat.
The drugs were tested and found to be 771 grams of cocaine and 25.5 grams of methamphetamine. One of the pistols found in the minivan came back as stolen when the serial number was entered into the National Crime Information Center, according to the sheriff’s office.
Glidden was charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, and theft by receiving stolen property. His bail was set at $25,000 cash along with other conditions, the sheriff’s office said.
