An ex-employee is accused of stealing money from Lincoln’s school district.
Adam Mahaney, 43, of Lincoln has been charged with theft by unauthorized taking and misuse of entrusted property, both felonies, according to Lincoln police Chief Lee Miller.
The investigation into Mahaney began on Aug. 18 after Superintendent Mike Harvey alerted police to suspected financial irregularities, Miller said Wednesday.
Mahaney, who was hired in mid-2025, processed payroll for Regional School Unit 67.
The stolen funds exceed $10,000, according to Miller.
The investigation is ongoing, and Miller declined to release additional details.
