Charles E. Crosby III was selected Maine County Official of September in honor of his community service by Spirit of America Foundation’s Maine Chapter.
Crosby has served for 27 years as a commissioner of Sagadahoc County (from 1993 to 2004 and 2012 to present), including some years as commission chair. Prior to that he was a Topsham selectperson and represented District 60 in the Maine Legislature.
Crosby was one of the founding commissioners of the Workforce Investment Act in 1999 and has been actively involved for 25 years serving as president of Coastal County Workforce, Inc.
Professionally Crosby is publisher and editor of The Cryer — a good news community monthly paper which covers Southern Midcoast Maine and has done so much to help the cause of volunteerism through that publication. He is also an antiquarian and local historian. He has served as vice president of the Maine Auctioneers Association and president of the Maine Booksellers Association.
Crosby has played a key role in several Sagadahoc County Spirit of America events and been helpful to the cause of volunteerism in other ways over the years.
