The Springfield College Pride racked up 436 rushing yards and 508 total yards en route to a comfortable 48-0 football victory over Husson University at the Winkin Sports Complex in Bangor on Saturday afternoon.

It was Springfield’s fifth straight win over Husson and the Pride have outscored the Eagles 256-40 in those victories.

Springfield, which ran for 449 yards in a 42-28 win over Husson’s Conference of New England rival Western New England a week ago, improved to 2-0 on the season while Husson is 0-2.

Stanford Davis carried the ball 16 times for 119 yards and had touchdown runs of two and 10 yards in the first half as the Pride built a 24-0 lead over the first 30 minutes.

Jayden Aziz added 88 yards on 19 carries including a two-yard TD run.

A.J. Vurchio and Bode Dunn added touchdown runs of five and eight yards, respectively. Ian Wernik kicked a pair of field goals of 27 and 35 yards.

Mike Mendicino and Justin Smith were Springfield’s top tacklers with eight and seven, respectively. Springfield limited Husson to 220 total yards and only 57 rushing yards.

Husson quarterback Brody Gibson completed 14 of 29 passes for 163 yards and Jacob Lenz caught four passes for 585 yards. Anthony Santacroce was the Eagles’ leading rusher with 34 yards on 15 carries.

J.T. Wright had a game-high 13 tackles for Husson. Cooper McNamara had 11 and Erik Menger was involved in 10 tackles.
