The Lincoln Town Council on Monday appointed Police Chief Lee Miller to serve in a second role as interim town manager.
Miller, who was hired as police chief at the start of 2025, announced the appointment himself on Tuesday saying he will work with outgoing Town Manager Wade Shaefer on the transition.
Shaefer was appointed town manager in May and formally resigned a month later. He has continued in the position since then and will depart on Sept. 18, Miller said.
Miller becomes the fourth town manager Lincoln has hired this year. Prior to Shaefer, Dennis Bullen served for less than two months before he was fired over budget disagreements with the council. In March, the council recruited Andrew Frodahl, who later declined the position.
“Our immediate priority is to provide steady leadership, support our employees, and maintain the community’s confidence in town government,” Miller said on Tuesday.
The Town Council on Monday also approved hiring Maine Municipal Association to help recruit and select a permanent town manager. Miller said that process is expected to take place over the coming months.
