Maine State Police on Wednesday asked hunters to “remain vigilant” for signs of a Hampden man who hasn’t been heard from since mid-January.
Douglas Dunphy, 78, went missing sometime before Jan. 15, when Hampden police started investigating his disappearance. Police found his white Ford Econoline van later that month.
Extensive searches in the area of his Kennebec Road home failed to locate him.
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit later took over the lead role in the search “due to the complexity of the investigation,” the agency said.
Dunphy stands 5-foot-10, weighs 210 pounds. He has gray hair and green eyes. It is unknown what clothing he was wearing when he went missing, police said.
He retired in 2015 after 35 years as mechanical superintendent at the Bangor Daily News.
