I am a high school history teacher in Rockland, and I support Susan Collins. I have paid into Social Security my entire life, and thanks to Sen. Collins, I will receive full Social Security benefits after my retirement.
For teachers, retirement security matters. We dedicate decades to serving our communities, and we shouldn’t be penalized in retirement simply because we chose public education as our profession. The fact that Collins worked on this issue for more than 20 years, and ultimately helped pass a strongly bipartisan law is a testament to her drive to take care of Maine’s public sector employees, including teachers, postal workers, first responders, and police officers.
If not for the bipartisan leadership displayed by Collins, I believe many Mainers would be going without Social Security benefits that they spent their lives paying into.
