A woman was sentenced to prison for her role in an illegal marijuana grow in Norridgewock.
Jiamin Liao was sentenced to six months in prison Wednesday after she pleaded guilty to maintaining a marijuana-involved premises in U.S. District Court of Maine in Bangor. She will also have one year of supervised release.
Liao, a Chinese national, operated an illegal marijuana grow at a home in Madison from December 2022 to March 2024. She also bought a home in Norridgewock that she used to store marijuana, according to court records.
She told police she kept processed marijuana in a closet because she liked the way it smelled and described the plants as “like my babies,” court records said.
When police raided the homes, they seized 551 marijuana plants, 30 pounds of processed marijuana and just under $40,000, the Department of Justice said.
Liao will report to prison on Nov. 18, according to court records.
