THOMASTON, Maine — A couple was arrested Sept. 19 for allegedly stealing nearly $2,000 in goods from Walmart.
Kody N. Wallace, 33, of Alna and Rachel E. Winchenbach, 25, of Waldoboro were both charged with felony theft. The charge is a felony because the value of the allegedly stolen items was more than $1,000. Wallace was also charged with violating his conditions of release.
Walmart security called the police when the two were seen bypassing the checkouts without paying for a cartload of items. When a security person called for them to stop, Wallace swore at the person. The two then drove away in a vehicle.
A Thomaston officer was on Buttermilk Lane at the time the couple left and were stopped and charged, according to the affidavit. Wallace asked not to be charged, telling the officer he ditched the cart at the doors of the store when confronted.
A bag in the vehicle was filled with Pokemon cards that had been stolen from the store, according to the affidavit filed by police in the state court in Knox County.
Both were taken to the Knox County Jail and both made their initial court appearances Monday.
