Harrington took this video Sept. 24 at Long Lake in northern Maine, where overnight temperatures have already been dipping into the 30s.
Canada geese are familiar year-round residents in Maine, but the state also sees migratory geese passing through each fall as they head toward their wintering grounds.
Maine is also a stopover for other goose species. Snow geese, greater white-fronted geese and Atlantic brant pass through the state during migration but do not breed here, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
With cold nights settling in across northern Maine, this massive flock is an impressive reminder that fall migration is in full swing.
