Ellsworth police caught a man last week who had an active arrest warrant for five months after he allegedly threatened someone with a firearm.
Karl Larochelle, 38, was arrested Sept. 21 near the Ellsworth Police Department on High Street after allegedly trying to flee on foot before a brief physical struggle with officers, according to police.
Police say the original incident occurred in December 2024, but they didn’t learn of it until a year later. Ellsworth police obtained an arrest warrant for Larochelle this past April following a roughly five month investigation.
The Ellsworth man now faces three felonies and three misdemeanors. Larochelle was charged with terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, each of which is a class C felony that could land him up to five years in jail and a $5,000 penalty.
He also faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and refusing to submit to arrest, each of which is a class D felony punishable by 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
Larochelle was booked in Hancock County Jail, according to Ellsworth police.
He is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment hearing on Nov. 17, according to court records.
