A northern Maine restaurant is giving successful moose hunters another reason to celebrate this season: free pizza.
The first group each day to bring its harvested moose to Mama Lou’s in Ashland gets a large two-topping pizza.
This is the third year LouAnne Deabay has offered the promotion. She closed her Masardis location in July after seven years in business and recently opened the new restaurant in Ashland.
Deabay also normally gives pizza to successful youth hunters during bear season, but the new location wasn’t open in time for this year’s hunt. She plans to continue the promotion during the youth deer hunt on Oct. 23-24.
After this week’s bull hunt, Maine’s moose season includes a second bull hunt Oct. 12-17 and an antlerless hunt Oct. 26-31.
Mama Lou’s is at 31 Main St., Unit 1.
