Bangor police are investigating after a driver appeared to have nearly hit a reporter with his vehicle and then drove away.
Surveillance video footage posted by The Maine Wire, the media arm of the conservative Maine Policy Institute, shows a driver cut across grass toward a reporter on Thursday morning on Odlin Road in Bangor.
The reporter was standing outside an addiction treatment center working on a report, according to a statement from the Maine Wire. As the vehicle nears the reporter, the video shows the reporter move toward the vehicle, in what The Maine Wire said was the reporter trying to preserve evidence.
Some lunatic just attempted to murder our reporter @iAmJoeSokol.

The Maine Wire will cooperate with Bangor police for the investigation, its statement said.
The driver left the scene, the video shows.
The reporter was not injured, the organization said. Editor-in-Chief Steve Robinson issued a statement on social media but did not respond to a request for comment.
