Class B North supremacy will be at stake Friday when a pair of 4-0 teams, Cony High of Augusta and Lawrence High of Fairfield, will square off in Fairfield at 7 p.m.
Two other 4-0 teams will be tested by 3-1 clubs as Hermon will travel to Rockland to face Oceanside/North Haven at 7 p.m. Friday, and Stearns/Schenck/Katahdin will entertain Washington Academy of East Machias.
Other Friday matchups include 3-1 Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft entertaining 2-2 John Bapst of Bangor at 7 p.m. and 1-3 Orono awaiting 3-1 Spruce Mountain from Jay for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
In Fairfield, Lawrence will be looking to avenge a 46-14 loss to Cony a year ago, and the Bulldogs come into the contest with all four of its wins being by at least 13 points.
Lawrence topped Gorham 48-0, Fryeburg Academy 27-14, Skowhegan 29-13 and Mt. Blue of Farmington 49-6.
Cony, the reigning Class B North champ, has also beaten Fryeburg Academy (25-21), Skowhegan (42-35) and Mt. Blue (14-0) but only by a combined 25 points.
In its only other game, the Rams thumped Messalonskee of Oakland 41-14.
Cony is top-ranked in Class B North while Lawrence is second.
Stearns/Schenck/Katahdin, the defending Eight-Player Small state champ and current No. 1 seed, faced its stiffest teams last weekend but squeaked out a 32-28 win over Lake Region. It had previously beaten Orono 40-20, the Houlton co-op team 56-0 and Dexter 42-8.
Washington Academy, the fourth seed, suffered its first loss to Gray-New Gloucester last weekend 37-26, after it had beaten Traip Academy of Kittery 66-6, Dexter 62-14 and Houlton 36-14.
Hermon has allowed only 12 points in four games and is third in statewide Class C while Oceanside/North Haven is seventh.
The Hawks own wins over Foxcroft Academy (24-0), Nokomis of Newport (28-6), Hampden Academy (56-0) and Medomak Valley of Waldoboro (51-6).
Oceanside/North Haven has lost to just Foxcroft Academy (28-12) while knocking off Hampden Academy (50-12), Belfast (44-6) and York (14-12).
Hermon beat Oceanside/North Haven 36-8 a year ago.
Foxcroft Academy, in addition to its loss to Hermon and win over Oceanside/North Haven, secured victories over Gardiner (28-0) and Madison (41-7).
John Bapst has won two in a row over Dirigo of Dixfield (18-6) and Oak Hill of Sabattus (26-12) after losing to Madison (46-40) and Winslow (26-6).
Foxcroft Academy is atop the Class C standings while John Bapst is fourth in Class D North.
Orono is coming off a 67-28 win over Bucksport after losing to three teams with a combined 11-1 record: Stearns/Schenck/Katahdin (40-20), Old Orchard Beach (30-22) and Old Town (48-6).
Orono is second in Eight-Player Small North.
Spruce Mountain has only lost to undefeated Yarmouth 48-0 while notching triumphs over Telstar of Bethel (30-18), Lake Region (46-14) and Mt. Ararat of Topsham (36-0).
Spruce Mountain is fourth in South Eight-Player Large.
