Aimee Brown, 41, of Brooks is in jail facing multiple charges after allegedly turning over drugs to police following a traffic stop.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Waldo County Sheriff’s Office had been conducting a drug investigation in Brooks for several months prior to the arrest, the MDEA said on Thursday.
The investigation included undercover purchases of cocaine from Brown, the agency said.
On Wednesday, MDEA agents were surveilling Brown in anticipation of arresting her on charges related to the undercover purchases. Agents stopped her in Burnham after identifying her as the driver of a Subaru Outback, the MDEA said.
The agents placed Brown under arrest and searched the car but didn’t find any drugs or evidence. However, Brown indicated that she “was secreting drugs on/in her person,” according to the agency.
At the Waldo County Jail, the MDEA said Brown voluntarily turned over the drugs: 83 grams of cocaine and 20 grams of suspected fentanyl.
She was charged with two counts of trafficking Schedule W drugs and one count of violating conditions of release. She was not granted bail because she had been released after an earlier drug trafficking indictment, the MDEA said.
The agency said it anticipates more arrests in this case.
