Once again Paul LePage has pulled out that old half dollar his dad gave him when he assaulted him and sent him to the hospital. How many times do we have to hear that same story? It’s a shame his father was abusive to him, but LePage isn’t the only kid who grew up hard during the late 1950s and early ‘60s. Perhaps his hope is for a big sympathy vote by waving that coin at us again.

I believe LePage was no friend to the citizens of the Second Congressional District when he was governor. He blocked Medicaid expansion several times. He cut funding for Meals on Wheels and many other social services critical to seniors in central and northern Maine.

Paul LePage has moved to Florida at least twice and basically returned to Maine only when he thinks the voters will elect him to a political position. I think he has traveled Interstate 95 so often they should change it to the LePage Thruway.

If elected to Congress, I believe LePage will be no more than a bench warmer. I think he will follow the orders given him by Speaker Mike Johnson and likely offer no bills of his own to help the citizens of Maine. He would be the one of oldest people ever sworn in to Congress for their first term if elected.

I believe Matt Dunlap offers a much better opportunity for Maine to be heard and represented in Washington than the opportunist LePage.
