The University of Maine rallied from a 3-2 deficit to edge sixth-ranked Quinnipiac 5-3 at Alfond Arena on Saturday night.
UMaine is now 2-2 while Quinnipiac fell to 3-1.
The teams split their series as Quinnipiac triumphed 2-1 on Friday night.
Quinnipiac erased a pair of one-goal deficits in the first period and took a 3-2 lead just 1:04 into the second period when senior left wing and captain Mason Marcellus scored his fourth goal of the season and second of the weekend.
But junior defenseman and Bemidji State transfer Isa Parekh tied it 2:20, his second of the season, and junior right wing and UMass Lowell transfer Lee Parks scored 2:33 later to supply the Black Bears with their third one-goal lead of the night.
It was Parks’ third of the season and second in as many games.
Nobody scored the rest of the period so UMaine took a one-goal lead into the third period.
Sully Scholle added an empty-net goal.
UMaine sophomore defenseman Loic Usereau opened the scoring with his first at the 7:42 mark. But the lead was short-lived as senior center and Holy Cross transfer Jack Stockfish responded just 1:13 later with his second of the campaign.
Sophomore right wing and Arizona State transfer Sam Alfano restored the lead while the Black Bears were on a five-minute power play, his first, but freshman defenseman Jan Golicic notched his first career goal to tie it.
Usereau opened the scoring by wristing the puck through a crowd during a scramble.
Stockfish tied it by jamming home a rebound before Alfano fired home a rebound at the 13:48 mark. Golicic tied it with a wrist shot from the right point that may have hit a Black Bear on its way.
Marcellus converted a nice pass from Ethan Wyttenbach with a quick one-timer after sprinting down the left wing.
But Parekh equalized with a wrister from the middle of the slot off an Owen Fowler feed and Parks scored what proved to be the game-winner off a long cross-ice pass from Will Gerrior.
