A Chester man allegedly burglarized his ex’s Passadumkeag home and then fled from police onto an island in the Penobscot River.
Nicholas Violette, 25, has been charged with burglary and violating his conditions of release, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
Violette allegedly broke into his ex’s Main Road home through a window about 10:45 p.m. Saturday.
He fled from the home before deputies arrived, but the deputies heard him in the woods and Violette was tracked to a nearby island on the Penobscot River, the sheriff’s office said Sunday.
Violette allegedly didn’t comply with commands to surrender, prompting deputies to call in reinforcements, including a drone from the Lincoln Police Department.
When the drone flew over him, Violette surrendered to police, who crossed the river and took him into custody.
Violette was taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor, where he remained Monday morning, according to the jail’s website.
