A man was charged Thursday night, Oct. 15 with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
When officers went to the home where the gun was located, officers found two caged dogs who were malnourished to the point that the outlines of their bones were visible.
Seth Young, 28, of Camden was only initially charged with the gun offense. But an affidavit filed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said it is gathering evidence on the situation with the dogs.
A deputy first spotted Young as a passenger in a car at Andes Variety in Warren. The officer suspected a drug deal was occurring and spoke to the driver and Young. When the officer informed Young he was going to conduct a check of his residence, which is allowed under terms of probation, Young said the officer would find a gun in his bedroom.
When officers went to the home, there were two dogs, each in its own cage. The cages were filled with feces and feces was throughout the house. One of the dogs had a sore.
Young is being held on a probation hold. Judge John Martin set bail on the weapon charge at $2,500 cash during a brief initial appearance held via Zoom in the state court in Knox County.
