State police are investigating a crash on the southbound lanes of the Maine Turnpike in Falmouth just before midnight Saturday.
Troops say that Devon Thomas, 24, of Vassalboro, was critically injured when he lost control of a 2008 Hyundai Elantra, the vehicle striking multiple guardrails before becoming disabled in the middle of the highway, according to Maine State Police spokesperson Aaron Turcotte.
Two vehicles – a Ford Explorer driven by Pruxelles Mujinga, 36, of Portland, and a Ford Fusion driven by Madeleine Camaran-Moyers, 22, of Lewiston – crashed with the Hyundai.
Traffic was diverted off turnpike exit 63 as emergency crews treated the injured drivers, who were transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Both Falmouth and Cumberland police departments assisted state police at the scene.
