For anyone struggling with medical debt, skyrocketing health insurance costs, basic access to medical care, paying for prescriptions, or finding help for a loved one with a substance use problem, please remember Paul LePage’s track record as governor.
LePage gutted the public health system. He left thousands of children without health coverage, refused to comply with court orders to implement a MaineCare expansion that had been enacted, cut financial assistance for medications, and made it harder to access life-saving naloxone. There’s more, but I think this should be enough to convince voters that he’s not the man to help us in Congress.
All of this in the name of saving money. But it’s well documented that early intervention and access to basic care are the cheapest, most cost-effective medical care. Not to mention the fact that they reduce misery, stress, and suffering.
I’ll vote for Matt Dunlap, thank you.
