The Bangor Police Department used an aerial drone to help find a missing woman on Thursday.

Police were called to City Forest shortly before 3 p.m. after relatives reported the woman missing. There were concerns for her wellbeing if she wasn’t found before dark because temperatures were expected to fall overnight, the department said.

The search included K9 teams from the Maine Warden Service, the Bangor Police Department’s Unmanned Aircraft System Team, and the Bangor Fire Department.

When a warden was able to hear the missing woman but not find her, the drone operator was able to pinpoint her location, according to Bangor police.

The woman was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said.
