ORONO, Maine — Senior goalie Albin Boija made 17 saves, and the Black Bears received goals from junior right wing Lee Parks, sophomore defenseman Loic Usereau and sophomore right wing Sam Alfano to complete a weekend sweep of Colgate with a 3-0 victory at Alfond Arena on Saturday night.

UMaine is now 4-2 overall and winner of three straight, while Colgate fell to 0-6 after the Black Bears also won 3-0 on Friday night.

Parks scored a power-play goal in the second period, extending his goal-scoring streak to five games. Usereau and Alfano sewed up the win with late third-period goals.

Usereau skated onto a pass from behind the net from Judah Makway and fired a one-timer past Colgate goalie Reid Dyck for his third of the season and second in as many games. Alfano scored his second of the season with a wrist shot from the inner half of the right circle.

Dyck finished with 29 saves as UMaine outshot Colgate 32-17, including a 27-7 edge over the last two periods.

UMaine took a 1-0 lead on Parks’ power-play goal at the 9:04 mark of the second period.

Max Scott had the puck behind the net and Parks skated to the bottom of the right faceoff circle, where he received a pass from Scott and beat Dyck with a short one-timer.

Lukas Peterson also earned an assist as his shot from the point wound up behind the net where Scott collected the puck and shoveled it out to Parks.

Dyck kept the Raiders within one with 13 saves in the period while Boija only had to make one stop.

UMaine outshot Colgate 14-1 in the period.

Dyck made a terrific save off Thomas Pichette, who skated onto a loose puck that took a crazy bounce off the boards behind the net and rolled into the low slot.

Colgate was clearly the better of the two teams in the scoreless first period, but Boija was outstanding and the Black Bears received some good fortune when Max Nagel’s wrister from the right faceoff circle glanced off the crossbar.

Boija made 10 saves in the period, including a pad save off Luke Pakaluk’s redirection from the edge of the crease off a Tobias Ohman feed and a glove save on Jack Brandt’s wrister off his break-in off the right wing.

Dyck was only forced to make five saves, but he did have a couple of quality stops, squeezing his pads on Will Gerrior’s wrister from the left circle and holding his ground to stuff Scott’s wraparound attempt.
