A Massachusetts woman allegedly attacked a Rumford man with an ax Sunday morning during a dispute over payment for a motorcycle delivery.
Luciane Dezan, 46, of Medford, Massachusetts, has been charged with attempted elevated aggravated assault and aggravated criminal mischief, according to the Rumford Police Department.
The 44-year-old victim hired Dezan to deliver his red 1984 Honda GL1200 from his old home in Northborough, Massachusetts, to him at Madison’s Condos on Route 2 in Rumford.
But when Dezan arrived with the motorcycle, the victim discovered damage that he believed happened during the trip from Massachusetts to Maine. An argument broke out when he confronted Dezan and refused to pay the full sum, Rumford police said.
Dezan allegedly got an ax from her van and began hacking at the motorcycle, causing extensive damage, estimated at $2,000.
She allegedly swung the ax at the victim’s head when he intervened. The man dodged, and Dezan missed him.
The attack was caught on video, Rumford police said.
Dezan was taken to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris, where her bail was set at $10,000. Her bail conditions include not contacting the victim and staying away from his home.
