Pedestrian dies after vehicle hit him in Augusta

A Searsmont man died after he was hit by a vehicle in Augusta on Friday.

Stephen Zaccadelli, 58, was crossing Eastern Avenue, near Togus VA Medical Center, where he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old Jefferson man, according to the Kennebec Journal.

Zaccadelli was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center before being transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland. He later succumbed to his injuries, the Journal reported.

The vehicle’s driver wasn’t injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
