A Milford man was arrested Wednesday night, 10 months after his 1-year-old daughter froze to death at the family’s home.
Shane McLaughlin, 37, is charged with manslaughter in the death of his daughter, Eleanora Ray McLaughlin, Maine State Police said Thursday morning.
The toddler died at Shane McLaughlin’s house on Dec. 28. In April, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Eleanora died of hypothermia and ruled her cause of death as accidental. There are five categories for manner of death: natural, accident, suicide, homicide and undetermined.
McLaughlin is also charged with three counts of child endangerment. Eleanora was living with her twin sister and an older brother at their father’s house at the time of her death.
McLaughlin is in the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor and is expected to make a court appearance Friday.
