Aroostook County sheriff’s deputies have arrested two people for allegedly stealing a pickup, which is still missing.
The department received a report on Oct. 24 about a truck that had allegedly been stolen from behind the Sherman Irving station, Sheriff Peter Johnson said Monday.
The 1994 green short-bed GMC pickup has the Maine license plate 628 LRJ. Police believe it’s still in or near Sherman, according to the sheriff.
Deputy Seraphima Smalley investigated and, with video footage from nearby businesses, identified and arrested two suspects, a 60-year-old man from Reed Plantation and a 41-year-old woman from Sherman, Johnson said.
He did not provide their names.
The two were arrested and charged with theft by unauthorized taking, a Class C crime subject to up to 5 years incarceration and up to a $5,000 fine, and theft by unauthorized use, a Class D crime for which they could face up to a year in prison and up to a $2,000 fine.
Anyone with information on the truck’s location should call the sheriff’s office at 207-532-3471 or Aroostook County Crimestoppers at 800-638-8477.
