A Saturday evening fire burned a Belfast apartment building.
The fire broke out about 5:08 p.m. at the Bluebird Circle apartment building, according to Maj. Aaron Turcotte, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
When firefighters arrived, they found flames climbing the building’s exterior, Turcotte said Monday morning.
Crews kept the flames from spreading into the apartments.
One person was taken to the hospital with injuries from breaking first-floor windows.
Seven people have been displaced.
Investigators determined that the fire was likely caused by improperly discarded smoking material and ruled the blaze accidental.
