Charges against a man accused of assaulting a resident at a group home in Hermon were dropped.

Innocent Muzungu, 26, was arrested Feb. 1 and charged with intentionally endangering the welfare of a dependent person, assault and obstructing the report of a crime.

The Penobscot County district attorney’s office declined to prosecute the case on April 16, according to court records. The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office did not need to file a complaint because the case was declined.

Muzungu was arrested by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff did not respond to a request for comment.

Muzungu, an employee at the care home, was accused of assaulting a resident. The victim was taken to the hospital, police said at the time.
