The man killed in a Corinth ATV crash over the weekend has been identified.

Fredrick Gainer, 68, of Stetson and another person, whose identity hasn’t been made public, were riding in a side-by-side ATV on Beech Grove, an access road, about 9:57 p.m. Saturday when the machine left the road and rolled over into the woods, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Gainer and the other occupant were thrown from the ATV.

Gainer died at the scene, while the other occupant was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The sheriff’s office gave no update on the other person’s condition Tuesday night.

The preliminary investigation suggests speed, reckless operation and alcohol contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
