Portland police have arrested a man they believe tried to set a local restaurant on fire last week using a Molotov cocktail.
Police were called to New Buja Belle restaurant and bar on June 20 at around 8 p.m. for reports of a disturbance involving an armed person.
An investigation found that a man that police believe is Ken Muco, 29, of Westbrook, entered the business carrying what looked like a makeshift Molotov cocktail. The man lit the incendiary device “in an apparent attempt to set the business on fire,” police said. He also showed a gun and threatened people inside the establishment, police said.
On Tuesday, police arrested Muco and executed a search warrant at his home, where they allegedly found additional evidence related to the investigation, including a gun.
Muco was charged with arson, criminal attempt, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm, and terrorizing.
