A Naples house burned to the ground in a fire Thursday afternoon.

The Naples Fire Department responded to the structure fire at 301 King Hill Road just after noon, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.

The people who live there were away from their home when the fire broke out. The home was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived.

Two firefighters who responded were treated for heat exhaustion.

No humans were seriously injured in the fire. Officials believe three family pets died.

Because of the severity of damage, the cause of the fire has not been determined.
