Police are investgating the death of a person reported to have fallen from the Goose River Bridge in Rockport.

According to the Rockport Police Department, a person had fallen from the bridge at around 6:10 p.m. Thursday. Emergency services responded to the area immediately and tried to provide medical aid, the Pen Bay Pilot reported.

The person was seriously injured and died at the scene, police said.

The Midcoast Villager reported Friday that the person who fell was a 58-year-old man from Rockport.

The person’s identity is not being released at this time, and further information was not immediately available.

The bridge connects Pascal Avenue to Main Street in downtown Rockport.
