He came from nowhere, an articulate, charismatic, seemingly ordinary man from the heart of Maine who sought to stop Donald Trump, another seriously flawed but charismatic man. He ran to help stop Trump from stealing our democracy, from stealing honest government and from stealing our money for himself and his mega-rich buddies.
At a time of desperate need for new leadership, Graham Plater appeared unique for Maine. He had a message, clever organization and he grabbed many of us by the collar to listen to him.
The Democratic Party seemingly couldn’t catch up with him and he swamped the primaries. Most regrettably, his character problems soon proved so deep and serious that he’s blown it as any kind of a candidate.
Now, we must find a new person with some muscle to rally around, to help save our democracy, to carry the decency banner, to help knock out Trump’s corrupt administration. I think that we will. It’s vital.
