President Donald Trump was recently in South Carolina to support Lindsey Graham’s sister in her bid for election to the U.S. Senate. Seemingly having no confidence in Darline Graham, Trump suggested that Republicans “pretend” that he was on the ballot. He apparently believes he is so popular that pretending they are voting for him, other Republican candidates cannot lose.
Pretending is make believe, to claim insincerely.
Perhaps Republicans can pretend that Trump has worked to lower grocery prices or to have done anything to lower the price of fuel. They could also pretend that he has ended the conflict with Iran. Once one starts pretending anything is possible.
Democrats can also pretend that Trump is on the ballot in November. I think that can only help Democrats retake both chambers of Congress.
