Before voting I ask if I am better off under the current administration. I am not.

Living: My property taxes have skyrocketed, gas is $4.51 a gallon, heating oil $6.05, and groceries prices have risen sharply as I avoid food recalls due in part to DOGE cuts.

Detentions: My physician was detained at the border in Canada for five months with no reason and no apologies. Hispanic people are also detained here from downstate, only to be released as a mistake.

Health care: Primary and specialty care, if available, have long waiting lists. Homebound elderly are expected to drive long distances. I have one specialist 420 miles away. At age 62, my health care premiums were $2,875 per month. We need Medicare for all. I believe only Democrats understand medical care should not be for profit.

Preventable deaths: Women without reproductive care. The unvaccinated. People of color. Neighbors by ICE. Civilians and Americans in the Iran War. Ukrainians. The nameless due to the abrupt cessation of USAID.

Our government should not be a version of Lord of the Flies. Every day brings a new outrage leaving Mainers to clean up the mess. I believe Democratic candidates offer integrity and alternatives. Vote blue!
