PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A 46-year-old inmate at the Cumberland County jail has died after being taken to the hospital.
The county sheriff’ s department says Mark Kemberling of Brunswick, who was serving a seven-day sentence for operating after suspension, was in medical distress Wednesday morning when he was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he later died.
The state Medical Examiner’ s Office and Portland Police Department are reviewing the incident to determine whether factors other than medical issues contributed to Kemberling’ s death.
