HOULTON and OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Gladys Mc-Guire, 67, died Aug. 15, 2008, surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born June 10, 1941, in Houlton, daughter of Lawrence Horten and Jennie (McCarthy, Horten) Suitter. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, John W. McGuire; two daughters, Angela Ayres and her husband, Lawrence Ayres, of Center Conway, N.H., and Leisa Dunlop and her husband, Douglas “Herbie” Dunlop, of Conway, N.H.; five brothers, Kent Horten of Houlton, Brent and his wife, Wendy, of North Carolina, Tim and his wife, Betty Suitter, of Hodgdon, Tom Suitter of Bangor and Greg and his wife, Maria Suitter, of Brewer; three sisters, Gloria Lunn of Bridgewater, Joyce Smith and her husband, Kenny, of Littleton and Jancie Ramsey of Saco; one brother-in-law, Richard and his wife, Diane McGuire, of Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Crystal Heath, Jason and John W. Anderson, and Jess Dunlop; and two adopted daughters, Helen Hanlon and Pauline “Polly” Botting. She was predeceased by a son, John W. McGuire Jr. The family would like to give special thanks to Janice Ramsey; her daughters, Jenn and Julie; and Julie’s daughter, Makayla, for all their undivided attention when it was truly needed. We can never put into words how much this meant to the family. There will be a graveside service noon Saturday, Aug. 23, at Houlton Evergreen Cemetery and a gathering of family and friends at American Legion Post No. 47, Bangor Road, Houlton.
