ISLESBORO – Miriam Ruth (Hatch) Pendleton, 96, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008. She was the wife of the late Gerald Chester Pendleton. Miriam was born March 24, 1912, in Islesboro, the daughter of James and Adelma (Gilkey) Hatch. She attended schools on Islesboro and graduated from Kents Hill Seminary in 1930. Miriam, with the exception of several World War II years, was a lifelong resident of Islesboro. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Susan; and a son, Nicholas Hatch. She is survived by two sons, Gerald Chester and his wife, Roberta Slezak, of Madison, Conn., and David Elliot and his partner, Linda Graf, of Islesboro; three daughters, Barbara Ann and Carol Andrea of Islesboro, and Angela Ruth and her husband, Frank Mazer, of Cambridge, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Sally McCrory-Pendleton of Brook-line, Mass.; two sisters, Barbara Philbrook Rice of Islesboro, and Frances Jacqueline and her husband, Basil Heffren, of South Berwick; and half bro-ther, James Hatch Jr. of Bristol, Conn. “Big” Grandma Mimi is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Nicholas Jr., Hilda, Miriam, Dana, Gerald III, Julia, Michael, Katherine, Susannah Ruth and Sam; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was devotedly ours, and we, forever hers. Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at St. Mary of Isles Catholic Church, Islesboro.
