LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Gloria L. Porter, 74, passed away Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Baptist N.E. – Hosparus Unit. She was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. She was a native of Ellsworth, but was raised in Bucksport. Gloria was a customer service representative for Kentucky Farm Bureau, a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and of the J.O.Y Club. She was very active in the 4-H Club during grade school and high school. She had been tutoring and mentoring students at several Bullitt County elementary and high schools, and Luhr and Fern Creek Elementary. She was predeceased by her husband, James T. Porter Sr. She is survived by her children, James T. Porter Jr. and his wife, Cheryrel, Susan L. Burns and her husband, Tim, Daniel L. Porter and his wife, Brenda, Joyce M. Troxell and her husband, Kevin, and Jo Anne Meister-McCubbins; sister, Betty Ezhaya; brothers, Arthur, George, Dana and Stephen Crawford; 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one more on the way. Her funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 155 Stringer Lane, Mount Washington, Ky., with burial after at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Ky.
