ORLAND and NORTH FORT MEYERS, Fla. – Esther (Rosebush) Boober, 86, died unexpectedly Sept. 1, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Madison, the daughter of Matthew A. and Maude F. (Wilson) Rosebush. She graduated from Walter Gardiner High School, Bucksport, Class of 1939. Esther attended Maine School of Commerce, now Husson College, in Bangor, and worked for several years at John R. Crooker Insurance Agency, Bucksport. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Riverside Chapter No. 123 of Orland, and attended Orland United Methodist Church during the summer. Esther enjoyed being with her family, gardening, traveling and her retirement years in Florida. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth L. Boober; her children, Frederick Hiltebrand of New Mexico, Barbara Ashey of Bucksport, Jane Babbidge of Greenville and Jeanne Wells of Portland; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Ronald McDonald House of Bangor, Inc., 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401-5649.
