FLORENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J. Wayne Hager Bunting, 61, died Aug. 27, 2008, at his home in Florence, N.J. He was the son of the late Wilbur and Louise (Hager) Bunting; and brother of the late Larry R. Bunting, all of Florence Township, N.J. Wayne was a 1965 graduate of Florence Township Memorial High School. In October 1966, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in the Central Highlands of Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 during the Tet Offensive. He was a military police sentry dog handler and served with his dog, Stormy. He earned an associate degree from the University of Maine, Bangor, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine, Orono. He was a graduate of the Maine State Police Criminal Justice Academy and the NJ State Police Municipal Academy at Sea Girt. He was a retired wildlife law enforcement officer with the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jane Henderson Bunting, formerly of Milo; two sisters-in-law, Joan Henderson of Texas and Milo, and Gayle LaVallee of Rockland; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held noon Thursday, Sept. 4, at Greenwood Cemetery, Dixfield.
