MILO – Dorothy Towne Monroe, the last surviving child of William and Ina Towne, passed away Sept. 8, 2008, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born in 1915, in Sebec. Dorothy married Roy Monroe, the Milo High School science teacher, a marriage that would last for more than 60 years. A devoted service wife, she followed her husband to his various Army Air Corps postings throughout World War II and returned home to Milo at the end of hostilities. Residing at 15 Clinton St., she was employed for several years as a switchboard operator by New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. Thereafter, having obtained her broker’s license, she owned and operated Monroe Real Estate Agency. Dorothy loved her flowers and her Labrador retrievers. She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her many nieces and nephews. Time and place of memorial/committal services will be published at a later date.
