CORINNA – Fred Norris McFarland, 76, of Dexter Road, died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 9, 2008, at his home. He was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Exeter, a son of Norris and Orilla (Knowles) McFarland. Fred received his education in local schools, graduating from Corinna Union Academy in 1952. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a seaman until June 1956. He then moved to California and worked for McDonald-Douglass, Long Beach and retired in 1996, when he moved back to Corinna to be near his family and friends. In 1998 he met his soul mate, Beverly Wright and they married Sept. 30, 2006. He attended Morse’s Corner Baptist Church, Corinna and was a member of Corinna American Legion Post No. 73. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Wright McFarland of Corinna; a stepdaughter, Bernice Wright of Wilton; several nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and neighbors. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Morse’s Corner Baptist Church with a luncheon afterward in the church vestry. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Homecare, 900 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401 or Levi Stewart Library, 8 Levi Stewart Drive, Corinna, ME 04928. Cremation services are being cared for and provided by Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service and Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington.
