ADDISON – Kathleen “Kathy” L. Martin, 86, passed away peacefully Sept. 9, 2008, at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility, Milbridge. Kathleen was born June 8, 1922, in South Addison, the daughter of the late Clayton S. and Elvena A. (Crowley) Look. She met her husband, William L. “Bill” Martin, while he was stationed at Nash Island Light with the Coast Guard during World War II. After the war, they resided in South Addison until 1949 before relocating to northwestern Oklahoma, where they lived for 50 years. They returned to Maine in 1999 to be with their daughter and son-in-law. Kathy was active in the Methodist church and a member of United Methodist Women, UMW. She enjoyed being a homemaker, was an avid reader, and enjoyed knitting and trying new recipes. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Carpenter and husband, Ron, of Addison; a sister, Pauline Kenney and husband, Albion “Tuddy,” of Addison; her nieces and nephews; and many friends, both of Maine and Oklahoma. Kathy was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William L. Martin in January 2001; two brothers, Clayton Jr. and Ivan Look; and one sister, Lillias Reynolds. The family thanks the staff at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility for the loving care she received. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Faith United Methodist Church, Columbia, officiated by Pastor Steve Smith.
