BANGOR – Edna E. Holeman passed away Sept. 13, 2008, after a long period of illness at a Bangor health care facility. She was born March 6, 1948, in Samson, Ala., to the late Ben and Beatrice Bess. She was the sixth child in the family. She graduated from E.J. Lewis High School, Samson, Ala., in 1966. From there, she went into the Job Corps training program and served two years in the Army upon graduation. Later in life she married the late James S. Holeman. This union was blessed with a daughter, Marjorie Ann Holeman. Edna A. Holeman was a warm, friendly and caring person who loved to read. She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be missed. Edna leaves to mourn: her daughter, Marjorie; grandson, Gregory; brothers, Leon Bess and Rozella of Samson, Ala., and Jackie Gees of Headland, Ala.; three sisters, Mary Toney of Birmingham, Ala., Ollie Hornsby-Haynard of Samson, Ala., and Marie Bess of Newton, Ala.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Edna will be sadly missed by friends and loved ones. There will be a special funeral service for family and friends noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Old Town United Methodist Church, 744 Stillwater Ave., Old Town.
