MADAWASKA and GRAND ISLE – Gilman Caron, 81, died Sept. 19, 2008, surrounded by his family at a Fort Kent health care facility after a courageous battle with heart disease. He was born Sept. 7, 1927, in Madawaska, the son of Philias and Edith (Levesque) Caron. Gilman was a devoted, self-employed potato farmer, served in the U.S. Army, was a member of Thomas O. Cyr Legion Post No. 147 of Madawaska and was a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2638 of Madawaska. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. Gilman is survived by his wife, Germaine (Theriault) Caron of Madawaska; two sons, Philip Caron and his wife, Debbie, of Madawaska and Glen Caron and his companion, Angela, of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Suzanne Pavento and her husband, Sam, of Glenburn and Diane Caron and her partner, Bonnie Keith, of Holden; and two granddaughters, Sara Pavento and Katherine Caron. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Gerard Church, Grand Isle. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gilman’s memory to St. Gerard Parish Memorial Fund.
