HOLDEN – Paul J. Nelligan, 82, husband of Laura (Sumner) Nelligan, died Sept. 18, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 1, 1926, in Brewer, the son of Edward M. and Frances (Lambert) Nelligan. Paul worked as a truck driver for 35 years for Coles Express, retiring in 1981. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed sailing. Paul and Laura were members of the Catholic community in Bangor and Brewer, and attended the Catholic churches in Bangor. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 55 years of Holden, are two daughters, Annette Nelligan and Kathleen Nelligan, both of Glenburn; two granddaughters, Angelica Nelligan-Smith and Acatia Nelligan-Smith; two brothers, Donald Nelligan and his wife, Dorothy, of Holden and James Nelligan of Indiana; several special nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Edwin Sumner and his wife, Joyce, of Burke, N.Y., and Robert Sumner and his wife, Linda, of Arizona. Family and friends may visit 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at St. John’s Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Timothy J. Nadeau, celebrant.
